Riga 2014 - European Capital of Culture: travelling exhibition opens in Rome
A travelling exhibition about Riga as the 2014 European Capital of Culture has been opened at the Museum of the Roman Civilisation in Rome.
Supported by the foundation Riga 2014 and the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the exhibition showcases the bicycle exhibition 'Riga 24h' by young Latvian designers and the photo exhibition 'Riga from above' featuring photos of Juris Kalniņš selected by architect Juris Dripe.
The exhibition was unveiled in Rome on 8th May as Italy, Latvia and Luxembourg will be EU troika designing a common programme for 2014 and 2015.
Moreover, Latvia and Italy are interested in co-operating in the fields of art, education and creative industries within the Riga 2014 programme.
Riga as the 2014 European Capital of Culture will host loads of events throughout the year. The programme features the 8th World Choir Games, the European Film Award ceremony, the exhibition 'Book 1514-2014' and a conference, the concert series 'Born in Riga', the 'Survival Kit' Festival, and much more.
