The Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Latvia and Lithuania have revealed the terms and conditions of a new 'Balts’ Award' for which nominees can be named, eng.lsm reports.

Sketchy early ideas about the award were revealed earlier this year, as previously reported by LSM, but now such crucial aspects as how much money is at stake have been confirmed.

"The aim of the Balts’ Award is to recognize the excellence and achievements related to individual contribution and accomplishment in promotion of Latvian-Lithuanian and Lithuanian-Latvian translations, teaching and enhancing the use of Latvian and Lithuanian languages, research on the Latvian and Lithuanian tangible and intangible cultural and historic heritage, as well as investigative journalism on Latvian and Lithuanian history, culture and tourism," an official release on the matter says.
